About Mj

Welcome,

Mj here. A little about me and why this website. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (currently just in the state of Nevada) for a little over 18 years. During all this time I have been on a journey of learning about different therapeutic modalities and healing methods for my clients and let’s face it, for myself. We live in some very stressful times and none of us is immune from stress.  As a result of some of my research I became a Certified Life Coach and also have certifications in several different Energy Healing techniques.

For me, becoming a therapist was a major life transition. I went back to school in my 40’s to get my masters in counseling. I did this as a result of circumstances in my own life. One I became addicted to gambling and as a result of getting help with my addiction I knew I wanted to help others. And, two I was clear that I needed to do something more purposeful with my life than I had been doing. I enjoy what I do, but I have to say I’ve become a little disillusioned with the process of talk therapy. I definitely think there is a lot of value in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and I absolutely believe in the value of learning  Mindfulness Skills. I have been trained in some excellent therapies and have some amazing tools. However, I kept feeling like something was missing.

Why is it so difficult for people to change? How do we really heal the past and let go of self-sabotaging behaviors? Those questions took me on path to explore alternative therapies, and other healing modalities that worked on Body, Mind, and Spirit. I started to explore Energy Psychology, Energy Healing, the Law of Attraction, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Interactive Guided Imagery, Crystal and Chakra Healing Techniques,  TAT, Tameana, Access Bars, and even how our environment, the food we eat, and our values affect our well being.

Where I Am Today

As a result of my journey and finding as well as experiencing many of the integrative and complementary therapies out there, I have found some wonderful techniques for healing.

On this new path I have become certified as a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner and am trained as a Reiki Master. I have incorporated several different styles of Reiki into my practice including Karuna Ki Reiki and Crystal Reiki. I have also added Tameana which is a Vibrational Crystal Healing Therapy, and I am a certified Access Bars Practitioner. I use Guided Imagery, and Interactive Imagery, Emotional Freedom Techniques/Tapping along with some of the other modalities to a healing session to allow a client to go a little deeper while they are in a relaxed state.

My goal is to utilize these energy therapies moving forward. To give clients some suggestions of how to incorporate them into their life to create a life of health and well-being. I don’t believe that there is a method that heals everyone, at least I haven’t found it yet, but I am still looking.

As I am learning more about integrative and complementary therapies, I have leaned more into using them in my psychotherapy practice and now into the Energy Healing Practice that I am building. I am finding that we don’t always need to talk about our past trauma to heal it. We do need some coping strategies to become more resilient, and energy and healing work can provide a way through that is less intrusive and triggering than talk therapy.

You can explore more about all these modalities on my site by checking out my blog posts and pages, or by going to the services page.

Conclusion

It seemed like a natural step for me to start to share some of theses tools on a larger scale which is why I developed this website. My ultimate purpose with this site is to empower you with choices around your own healing. To be able to let go of the past, the blocks that are keeping you stuck and to inspire you to find your purpose, your joy, and to live a life that you are excited about.

I would enjoy hearing about your experiences with any of these techniques, whether you experience them with me or somewhere else. Thanks for stopping by, read some of my blog posts, check out some of the freebies, let me know if you have any questions, and stay tuned for more to come.
