Crystal healing is an alternative healing modality that uses crystals or gemstones. Using Crystals for emotional healing, balancing the body, and even for prosperity has been around for centuries, it is not a new subject. It is however growing in popularity.
There are references to the use of crystals as far back as 5000 years in Chinese texts on medicine, in Ayurvedic text, and even in the Bible there are references to crystals.
Example: Revelation 21:18 – 20 reads, “The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx (sardonyx), the sixth sardius (ruby), the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.”
People have been interested in and fascinated by the beauty and mystical energy of crystals for ages, but does it work?
Do Crystals Really Heal You?
Crystal Healers believe that crystals can heal and they have countless testimonials that support their belief. The scientific community discounts these as placebo. The truth, there is no scientific evidence to support that crystals heal.
That said, crystal healing has been around for centuries and people continue to seek it out. Having completed many crystal healings on others and myself, in my opinion it is undeniable that something is happening. There are many Reiki practitioners, Energy Healers, Massage Therapists, and other LIghtworkers that believe and continue to use crystals in their healing work.
The belief about how crystals work has to do with the vibrational frequency of the crystal or gemstone, interconnecting to the earth’s electromagnetic field and the energy system of the person giving the healing and the recipient.
Crystal healing is a relaxing, non-invasive, calming process. Even if someone isn’t a believer in the power of crystal healing, the treatment itself will benefit the client giving them a chance to relax, get in touch with their body’s energies so they leave a session feeling restored, refreshed, and typically feeling a lot lighter than they did before the session. This alone will support better health and healing.
How Does Crystal Healing Work?
Crystal Healing is a holistic treatment used for healing emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual health conditions. Typically, the crystals are placed on the body, often on the Chakras, or around the body, sometimes in a grid like pattern. In distance or remote healings, which can be very effective, a surrogate is often used.
The types of crystals used and where they are placed on the body may have to do with what is it that is being worked on. Different stones are used for different illnesses, emotional distress, and even on past memories. Which crystals are being used may also have to do with the intuition of the healer. Often as a healer I am guided to use a certain crystal and I am aware of other healers that do all of their healing using intuition and previous experience and knowledge of crystals.
Crystal healing is based on the premise that the crystals through their electromagnetic field can connect with the energies of the recipient. Each crystal has its own unique electromagnetic charge. These vibrations are what interact with the client’s energy centers to remove blockages, allowing healing to take place and restore a healthy flow through the body, mind, and energy centers of the person receiving the healing. Practitioners use crystals to pull out the negative energy, unblock the system and infuse the body with Earth energy and Universal Healing. Crystals and gemstones have a different vibrational frequency associated with their shapes and colors.
Other Ways To Use Crystals
Of course you can always go to an energy healer that does crystal healing sessions, but you can also just carry a stone with you, perhaps in your pocket. You can meditate while holding a crystal in your hands or placing it near you. Both of these methods will enhance your energy and can balance your body.
You can include sound therapy, aromatherapy, and calming music to enhance your self practice with crystals. At the very least this will help support relaxation.
You can also wear crystals in the form of a pendant or amulet, a bracelet, or use them under your pillow at night to help you sleep. Crystals work as a healing conduit, releasing negative energy and allowing positive energy to flow through the body. Using a crystal that calls to you can be an easy way to get a daily benefit of crystal healing. will go more into which crystals to use for particular situations or different healings in other posts, but for sleep a quartz crystal, clear, smoky, or pink would be good to place under your pillow.
Is Crystal Healing Safe?
Even though there is no scientific research showing the efficacy of crystal healing, it is suggested that they induce a placebo effect. Even if it is placebo, (I am not convinced that is all that is going on) if it is giving my client relief I will take it. That said, Crystal Healing is a complementary therapy and should not take the place of medical treatment. Always check with your medical doctor if you are in some physical pain or experiencing distressing symptoms.
Crystal healers are not medical doctors, and there are no regulations around calling yourself a crystal healer, or energy worker. However, most practitioners have had training in crystal healing and different types of energy healing, such as Reiki, Tameana, massage or other body work. So if you are thinking of going to a practitioner, ask them how long they have been doing healing work, what is their background, do they have testimonials on their website.
It isn’t likely that you will be harmed in any way receiving a healing session, the worst that might happen is that you have a relaxing 30 to 60 minutes listening to calming music with some crystals on your body. The key is to go in with an open mind and just relax in a state of mindfulness, noticing what you feel and sense.
Even though there isn’t scientific evidence supporting the healing power of crystals, a number of people swear by their powers. So, if you’re curious to give them a try, make sure to keep an open mind. There are a myriads of books, websites, and other resources of which crystals are best to use with whatever you are seeking healing on. You can also just go into any crystal shop and see which stones call out to you. If having the crystal in your presence feels good and the intention is that this stone will bring you relief, you have already taken a step towards feeling relief.
